SBS Commercial’s collaboration with BusinessesForSale.com has taken the business from strength to strength, with weekly website hits almost doubling in the last six months.
SBS’s partner site, BusinessesForSale.com, gets up to 12,558 hits a day and sbscommercial.co.uk fielding more than 7,500 per week compared to 4,000 last November. As a result, the company is increasingly moving away from traditional print advertising and towards promoting its businesses through new media.
John Gower, Operations Director at SBS Commercial, explains: "Looking for a business can be time-consuming and hard work. It’s usually not enough to just walk into an estate agent’s office and traditionally, people would have to trawl through dozens of publications to find something suitable.
"The internet has revolutionised the whole process of buying a business. Prospective purchasers can decide at a glance whether a business has potential, as we display turnover, profitability and enough photos to give a clear impression of the premises."
Gower continues: "We have also changed our advertising strategy to reflect the fact that more than three in four successful purchases began with a visit to the website. Instead of giving details of individual premises, we have made a conscious decision to promote the website instead.
"Investing in our website has paid off, and it’s become a real asset to us."
