PRESS RELEASE

9 September 2010

---BEGINS---

Buy your own railway for £700,000

‘Cleethorpes coast light railway’ is on the hunt for a new owner according to business transfer website http://www.BusinessesForSale.com.

‘Cleethorpes coast light railway’ was built in 1948 as a tourist railway and is currently one of the last surviving steam seaside light railway lines in the UK. The railway runs for 2.25 miles – serving as one of the biggest tourist attractions in South Yorkshire.

The business was council run until the current owners, Chris and Deborah Shaw took on the business over 20 years ago. Having spent this time developing the business, they are now looking for a buyer who will keep the business going and preserve the history surrounding it.

Chris says: “We don’t want to be uncoupled from the business straight away because we want to make sure we find the right person. It will be the end of an era, but we are ready to retire and aim to spend more quality time with each other and our grandchildren.”

The railway line provides multiple income streams with a tea room, souvenir shop, bistro, ticket office and claims to be home of one of the smallest pubs in the world.

Open all year round and boasting 120,000 passengers a year, the trains run at regular intervals – daily during the busier summer months.

The railway also offers a driving experience – with one to one tuitions with regular drivers, allowing customers to drive steam locomotives and diesel engines.

More information about the railway business, being sold along with a bistro, pub, shop and museum can be found on BusinessesForSale.com:
