Joe Wurzelbacher Story Inspires More People To Buy Their Own Business

The entrepreneur website that connects buyers and sellers of businesses http://www.BusinessesForSale.com is experiencing a surge of interest following the Joe Wurzelbacher story.

“Perhaps people see buying a business as a way out of the current downturn,” says Marcus Markou, BusinessesForSale.com founder and CEO. “Certainly, many of the plumbing businesses for sale on the site are seeing more enquiries,” he adds.

The site, which was established in 1996 and works with over 1,000 business brokers across the US, has over 67,000 businesses for sale advertised at any time and generates over 5m unique visitors per year.

There are over 300 plumbing, heating and air conditioning opportunities currently for sale ranging from a plumbing contractor in Des Moines for $50k to a heating and air conditioning business in Charlotte, Indiana, for $12m – with revenues exceeding $16m.

“There’s a business for sale to suit all entrepreneurs,” says Markou. “And if you have cash, where are you going to put it? The stock market? Property? The bank? It’s a good time to buy a business.”

To back this up, a recent survey by BusinessesForSale.com revealed that 48% of buyers view the current economic conditions as an advantage when buying a business.

And does Markou worry that the Wurzelbacher story will only bring buyers for plumbing businesses to his site?

“Thankfully, we don’t just sell plumbing businesses,” says Markou. “We have 1000s of opportunities ranging from gas stations and bars to restaurants, hotels - as well as engineering, E-commerce and manufacturing businesses for sale.”
